"Cheltonians" buried in this Cemetery

Pte Frank William GAGE, 8th Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment, is buried in Plot I, Row H, Grave 11.

He was killed in action on 11th September 1916 in the Bailleul area of France near to the Belgian border.   He was 22 years of age.

Pte Gage is commemorated on the Cheltenham War Memorial, the Holy Trinity Church Roll of Honour and on the Holy Trinity School Roll of Honour.

His parents, Samuel and Mary Gage, resided at 2 Berkeley Avenue, Winchcombe Street, Cheltenham.

 

Cpl Charles John WIGLEY, 1st (South Midland) Sanitary Section RAMC, is buried in Plot II, Row D, Grave 4.   He was killed in action on 15th May 1915, aged 23, whilst attached to the 5th Battalion Royal Warwickshire Regiment, on the Franco-Belgian border.

Cpl Wigley is commemorated on the Cheltenham War Memorial.

His parents, David and Alice Wigley, resided at Laxsey Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham.   Charles Wigley was associated with the Cheltenham YMCA.

The inscription on his headstone reads:  "To be with Christ is far better".
